Hanna doesn’t make a checker to test for iodine in saltwater.

@Randy Holmes-Farley
So bottomline is I'm dosing nightly SeaChem Iodide .... not iodine.... all bc i have a 6ft 180g packed with zoas/Palys.
I want to test for Iodide so I can understand: 1) the consumption rate and 2) that I'm know I'm not overdosing .
sorta hard to get daily consumption rates on ICP tests.
How accurate are these Salifert iodide test? I mean I know they only give you a certain range. Just trying to understand if they are a waste of time/money if they are inaccurate
I'm ignorant on what this isIIRC
If I Recall Correctly.I'm ignorant on what this is
Omg... im.so stupid..I was thing IIRC was some kind of test kit.If I Recall Correctly.
It was about 18 years ago. lol
Fish need it, just like us. If it's not in their diet it should be in the water.I never tested once for iodine and tank did fine, so i would say neither.

Neither. I don't test for it and see no need to.
I dose it and it makes a difference.
What exactly do you dose and what difference do you see after dosing it? Have you ever stopped and looked for a change?
Some people making such claims are using complicated solutions such as Lugols, which can have far ranging effects on the solubility and bioavailability of other trace elements (e.g., iron) unrelated to iodine itself.
I'm just dosing iodide. One of my montipora especially tends to turn pale white on the older parts, like it's fading. Then it'll even turn brown. It's the lifted parts on the old growth that tend to do it first. Now I dose idoide weekly and the issue seems to go away.
I have increased my trace elements in my 2 part, so that also could have been a factor. But it happened before and I dosed only iodide and it seemed to do better.
I think skimmers remove it from what I've read, and I don't do water changes.
