My tank has been so stable for the past year that I never test for anything except for SG a few hours after the weekly 10-20% water change. Also, I test NO3 before the water change to help me decide how much water I need to change. PH is always 8.2-8.4 , nitrites 0ppm, ammonia 0ppm, and nitrates is between 10-20ppm. Fish only tank, so it's all good.

I test alk and nitrates every other day or so, only because I am playing around with a few things and deliberately moving them around. (finally figured out this week it was the alk level that was ticking my trachyphyllia off. It apparently doesn't like anything over 8dkH).

Salinity, phosphates, calcium and mag (and alk and nitrates) every Sun morn (tank maintenance day).
pH, temp and ORP are continously monitored.
