I use to dose manually but as we all know... life gets really busy at times. Well, I've failed to dose during those times and it's never a good thing.... ever heard the term ALK SWING? ugh..... There's times where I get really passionate and focused on my tank and think "I got this all under control"... then life gets cRaZy. That's why I LOVE my dosers. They've worked flawlessly for over 1 year now. Of course I still have to keep my eye on them to make sure nothing is failing... but that's a piece of cake.

B-Ionic Ca,Alk,Mag on a Stand alone Profilux

I've been using B-Ionic for almost 16 years I love it

The only other thing I do is water changes once a month with carbon when needed.

I'm not a believer in all the snake oils and have watched whole tanks crash mysteriously that have been set up for 10+ years for no apparent reason at all.

I just don't know what's in most of whats sold so I don't use any of it. I have had no negative effects from B-Ionc ever so I stick with what works for me.

I'm really surprised how many manual dosers there are. I'm way too lazy to get up and spend that much time on my tank everyday. I guess it could be because I've had tanks for 25 years.

Also with SPS, stability is key. If I missed dosing for one day in my 210 I'm sure I'd have big problems.

Brs dosing pumps for cal and alk. No way to keep up by manually dosing in my tank. I've never needed to dose mag.

I agree for my 200 same thing.

I dont dose MG as i make sure to use high Mg salts and am anal about WC.

Otherwise 2 BRS dosers for ALK/Ca via Apex. Also supplement all evaporated water with Kalk, considering stopping this though.

Those dosing Kalk only will eventually need 2 part if demand increases.

So how do you dose to keep your perameters up to par? Do you test and calculate, or do you just throw a tbl spoon a day isolating calc, mag, & alk

Dose BRS 2-part and vinegar with a Profilux. I add Mag manually when needed. If the DaStaCo reactor ever makes it over here I may give it a try.

I manually dose, but like someone said earlier, the demand as reached a point where dosing the needed amount once a day is not a great idea. I'm currently shopping for a doser and will most likely go with Profilux Stand Alone or LM3...

I use a ca reactor and will never go back. I have been running mine for about 4 yrs, and 6 months ago I moved and had to order a new solenoid for my co2 tank. I had to wait for some $ to come in after the move so I was stuck manually dosing for about1.5 months. In that short ammt of time I used about 1/3 of a gallon of both ca, and alk (brs) and was not able to get my all over 6.7 and ca above 300. I have a 60gal acro tank and I really hadno idea how much 2pt I would have needed to maintain the growth of the coral. For me it doesn't make sense to stop using a low maintenance, cheap, and effective wayof dosing to go to anything else.

On a 120gal. 30cc each of 2part buffer/calcium every morning. And drip kalkwasser every other morning. I find this simple and controllable through testing alk, cal, regularly. Once you've tweaked your maintenance amount testing can be performed less seldom without worries. I haven't had any problems in a 20 year reef.
