Poll: What is Your Preferred Salt Brand?

Don't understand how everyone deals with the ridiculous amount of calcium, magnesium and alk in reef crystals.

Regular I/O from day one. It’s what the aquarium near me uses and their corals, inverts, sharks, etc all look good and thriving.

I used Seachem, in the old bucket. That was nice salt, especially easy to mix, but my mag always was low. I switched to Instant Ocean. It's less easy to mix (I have to move my pump around at least once while mixing to get it all mixed) but with the testing/dosing I do, I'm adding so much that would be missing I have no problem just saving the extra money.

I also go it for $29/200gallons. So the price was very worth it.

Regular IO in QT. Aquaforest Reef Salt in my reefs; mixes the quickest out of any other salt I have used and parameters are dead on every batch.

I buy whatever is closest to the door because the stuff is heavy. I also use NSW if I am near the ocean, have a bucket and feel like getting wet.

I am starting a 30 gallon and have purchased LiveAquaria salt. I know it is new and relatively untested, but the parameters are closest to what I will be aiming for. I will use it to cure some dry rock for a few months and if it is consistent I will continue to use it to cycle the tank with the additional live rock. I had used IO in the way past when I had many marine tanks with no issues and good consistency between batches.

I'm with aquaforest probiotic salt and reef salt. Probiotic is very good at lowering nitrate and phosphate.

I like regular old Instant Ocean; it's cheap, mixes in a range I'm comfortable with (dKH 10.8, Ca 445, and Mg 1410 for me), and is available everywhere should I need some in a pinch.

Why salinity by aquavitro isn't on the list is beyond me. It's one of the top salts on the market.

Well it was a great salt at one time. That salt killed several big pieces of sps I had. I trusted it for several yrs and stopped testing each batch, my mistake, and then piece after piece started to die. I had two buckets on hand and both where way different than what was advertised on the buckets. I'll never go back to it after losing so many pieces due to inconsistencies in parameters.

Using Fritz but I get a ton of buildup in my mixing container and my mixing pump stops working after batches. Have to clean everything right after. Seems like I have more of a problem with fritz then I do with IO so I’m going back to that one.

I do Red Sea. 2/3 blue bucket to 1/3 black bucket or so
