Looking for some feedback from you all! What size plumbing pipe is best for your projects? Options are 46", 40", 36", 27".

(I realize these seem like odd sizes, but there is a method to my madness ;))

EDIT: I'm looking for the longest length you need in tact on a typical project, not the length needed for the entire project.

voted. Has to do a lot with height of tank and stand and distance to sump.
I'm loving the different colored tubes now available

Hi,
in the plumbing, the size of the pipe diameter is determined by the head lost. The head lost is depending to length of the pipe line, height and the number of pipe fittings. So I think the question about the suitable length is not correct. Unless I have misunderstood the question.

If there is a significant shipping cost difference, then shorter lengths would be fine. None of the pipe runs on my install are over 27" (48" 120G on stand with sump under, Synergy overflow). But to avoid cut waste I'd rather have 47" lengths.

I'm rather fond of standard 10 foot lengths, but I wouldn't want to pay the shipping.

Voted, I went with the longest option. I am a firm believer in "you make three trips to the store before you get it right" so the more pipe I have allows for more room for error, which for me, is inevitable. ;Hilarious

True, it's all schedule 40 and comes in a variety of diameters... so I guess the question is across the board, what is best?

There is :\ 46" (what we do now) avoid the crazy shipping charge but leaves us with a 27" piece as scrap. That's a LOT of scrap. Perhaps a 27" size would be helpful for some builds though.

lol, exactly!

Voted 46"
I'd rather have the extra laying around then not enough. I've bought some of this stuff from BRS to use on my 185 set up.

Then maybe offer a slight discount to ship 46" and 27" together? If I don't need 2 x 46" then maybe 1 x 46" and 1 x 27" would be just right.
