I keep my smaller SPS frag tanks at 9-10. Lower values hurt growth, although consistency is more important than anything else. I rarely do water changes.
When I kept much bigger tanks I rode dKH a bit lower.
Hi I do the same run a large refugium with no water changes so keep it at 11.5 because I have noticed better growth for me especially with zoa colonies thx
Probably worry more about what it’s doing to your PHShould I be worried?

No, it was legit. Brand new checker. It took me a few days, but I got it back up to normal. It’s at 8.0 today. Took 25 teaspoons of sodium bicarbonate to correct that. Unfortunately, I don’t have a pH tester, because that’s the first thing I thought about was pH too. pH tester is in the budget for next month. After over 20 years of reading my system to gauge where my numbers were, I figured actual test results would be better. I was right on the money for everything except alkalinity. That number shocked me. My acro growth is fantastic, so I “assumed” everything was OK. I’ll be watching alk a lot closer now.@Vette67 You sure that's not bad reagent? I've had issues before with my Hanna checker reagent giving false low readings.
Yeah, buy Salifert test kits instead.Should I be worried?

Yeah, buy Salifert test kits instead.
Its not the reagents doing that it's just handling them and cleaning them that erases the numbers, I have the same problem with redsea syringes.I like their alk kit, but it's reagent erases the #'s off the syringe.
Going to move on to the new Red Sea Pro alk kit, as a cross refense to my Hanna and My Alkatronic
