Out of the two I like the AIs but I went with Blue Moon Aquatics because I like the way they look exactly or very close to halides.
But I do like the AIs a lot.

I'd say best bet for flexibility and configurability go DIY all the way.

If you are not the DIY person, I actually like the Evolution series LED fixtures. I have one lighting up the last 2 feet of my 125 with T5 on the other 4 feet. I really like the Evo's color and shimmer. I am a DIY person, but sometimes out of the box is just easier so never know which way I'll end up going when the time comes...

a lot of DIYs so far

definitely something out of the box for me..I like to keep it simple

i have 3 of the Apollo SolorBlast's on my 6' tank and love them......they have a wider coverage than the AI's and alot cheaper thatn the Radion's and the have just as much par than the Radion's if not more...never seen any need to pay for a name like eco-tech

Do you have Ecotech pumps on your tank? That would make me want the Radion if that's the case.

Depends on level of disposable income. After owning Apollo disable I'm not sure why anything more expensive matters. I have seen the radiums. I would say that when you buy a radium most of all you are getting a shiny box. I don't like the fact that you can't have them interact with my apex. I don't care that i can get them to interact with my Vortech.

1) DIY - more flexibility, maintainability, customizable, serviceable
2) Radion - Finally a commercial fixture with more colors though too heavy on Red
3) AI SOL - optics too tight but nice controller

At the end of the day (and 99% of people will disagree with me) but its more about the spectrum than PAR. AFter a couple years of hands on builds, experimenting, serious investment, and personal research the corals in my tank grow better with better color at lower PAR settings and more color than when I was obsessed with blasting everything full tilt. I believe the Radion will prove to be a superior light..though I could never imagine buying a commercial fixture when i can build one better and to my tastes.

Another vote for the Apollo reef led solarblast. I have one over my 70 gallon cube and have no dead spots for light and it is very bright. So one fixture is covering 30x30x18 without a problem. Most led's that are competing cover a much smaller amount of space requiring more than one fixture.

+1...small footprint is most fixtures biggest issue IMO

Good information folks! Thanks for all of your input it is greatly appreciated and very helpful

DIY because of flexibility. My canopy gave me only limited option. I made a hybrid of T5 and LED and love it.
