After about a month of some unhappy Euphyllia, while everything else is happy I bought some poly filter.

When I was newER, and didn't think twice I tossed some chemi pure blue into my tank when it didn't need it. It bottomed out my phosphates and crashed my tank via dinos.

My tank is currently running at .03 phosphate with Minimal work done by me to keep it there.

I would like to try the poly filter but the package says it removes phosphates, which is something I do not want to do.

Thoughts ? Does it actually remove phosphates, or is that more of a marketing thing.

Thank you.

Why do you think you need polyfilter? I keep some on hand, but only use it if something seems out of wack or the corals suddenly go south. Using it "just because " seems like a waste of perfectly good polyfilter

Poly Filter does not remove Phosphates in my experience. It is a chemical filter and good at removing various unwanted elements. I run some in my tanks 24x7 as a safeguard. By my Red Sea test kits my PO4 is 0.12 ppm right now and has been there for months.
