Do Poly Filters have an expiration date? Should they?

I have some that are still in their original packaging... but they have to be at least 6 to 8 years old?

How about a way to test one and see if it still works?

BTW, I'm inclined to just use them as filters and not worry about if they still indicate metals.

No expiration and I like them. I wish they were cheaper but are effective
