polyp extension

I would think almost anythig can change polyp extension because yu are changing there habbitat. If its a big noticable change make a batch of salt and test it.

Thanks, I’m hoping that my polyp reduction is due to the 30 gallon water change of new salt water…
What are some reasons for polyp reduction????

I would assume spike in cal/alk salanity. Which im guessing you did if you had a smaller tank. Look at it like this. If you where running salt brand "A" that had parameters of cal450,alk,9 and mag 1400 out of the box. Now salt brands "B" has 400,10 and 1250 that might of messed with them a tad bit. But all this is just me speaking on what i feel.

Don't get me wrong I feel the same way about the change in salt brands but what do you think the time frame is that the polyps should normally recover? Days? Weeks? Months?

Im no expert but if its the salt all can say is if itslonger then 1-2 weeks i would start looking at other causes.

Ok, just did some testing and here are my levels.
Alk-8
PH-8.2
Cal-400
Nit-30
Mag-1400
Phosphate-0.2
I did a water change last Sat with salt water from my LFS I usally use Reef Crystals. All the polyps on my sps are almost all gone except for some nubs. I use 2 part from bulk reef to keep my levels. Let me know what you think. Thanks... oh my tank is 140gal and water change last week was 35gal.

I don't know what to do these %&^#@!* Nitrates.. I've got about 14 fish and stuck around the 30 mark. I tried dosing with vodka about 3 months ago only to have a algae boom so I stoped.

Check the source where your water's coming from. Also, how old is the tank?

Tank is 14 months old. I use Reef Crystals, new stuff was red sea I think. I have a berlin sump with lots of flow.
