So I posted this a while back when it was a single head and I had basically tried to kill it by flipping the rock polyp down for over a month in the sand... it hitched in on a base rock. Now I have the rock face up and some other corrals on it. Can anyone give me an id on this thing?? It’s grown fast in the last month or so.

Could be, do a little research and protect yourself accordingly if you plan on removing them from your tank. Don't become another news story;)

Lol ok I don’t plan on removing them any time soon. They look rather nice to me. And when I do I’ll put on my dive gear

Just do a little research on palytoxin and working with them in your tank, even if you don't plan on removing them.:)

They're kinda like dandelion IMO. at first they look cool and add a nice splash of color. Next thing you know they're taking over your yard and calling in Chemlawn for help. And they are considered one of the more highly toxic of the palys so please handle with care whatever you decide to do.

Keep the rock seperated from everything else.
These are some of the faster growers and most toxic. You will likely want to 'upgrade' within a year.
Also beware of the yellowish version that is nearly identical.

We grow a variety of the toxic Paly's because our flame angelfish eats the others.

Wear nitrile gloves, eye protection and then face protection on top of that when you frag them.

We have had them for years with no problems. I enjoy them.
Just remember the level of respect you need to give them when working with them.
Keep them under water in a seperate tray as much as possible and wash your hands several times in cool water when you are finished fragging them. Use disposable towels and seal them in plastic when done.
Their poison is no joke.

Grandis paly's under white light.

Grandis paly's under blue light.

Nuclear greens under blue light (lousy picture)

Pandora under blue light (another lousy picture)

Our Superman/Captain America(?) doesn't open much. Maybe it's paly toxin level is a little lower than the others?
All this is just guessing based on what the flame angelfish devours and what it leaves alone.

A similar type of Grandis paly's is called Cinnamon.
A pretty name for brown with a pretty pattern.

The green Grandis paly's can have a sky blue center when grown under different lighting or a greater distance from the light? (T5?) We switched to LED years ago. I miss that color.

And don't even think about touching your eyes or your face or an open cut until you have taken your hands out of the gloves and washed your hands several times.

Best 'gotcha' story to relate it to is a guy cutting up very hot peppers then going to the bathroom.
You will remember it always.

Like I said earlier, we have had them for years with no problems and I like them. Just remember to respect their danger.

That’s funny I did that one time years ago .. making a stir fry turned into a vigorous shower bahahaha

Green paly. Pooper paly. I consider an invasive weed. Super fast grower, will take over big space and keep goin. I’d give to lfs
