Hi,

Yet another noob question from me but I have a few frags of the same stylo that all sit on separate plugs but next to each other. One, and only one, constantly retracts its polyps completely at least once a day.

What are the potential causes and why would only one of the frags, from the same original animal, only do this and not the others?

I have a million other issues going on including high alk, swinging params, aggressive clownfish, terrible hydrogen sulfide smell, some STN...despite all these I’m moving slowing and have been fixing them one by one. But this issue is more peculiar as it’s 1 frag of 4 from the same original frag but it’s the only one that does this.

Thoughts?

P.S this shot is of it coming back. When it retracts, every single polyp retracts.

Anything bothering it? I am ruling out alk or other water champ try related issue since other sps is not showing this. My second guess will be flow

Alk has been high and I’ve been battling this (on another thread). It was hitting a verified 16 for about a month but has been coming down slowly. Flow has been recently adjusted as well in order to ramp up due to dead spot issue, but the retraction has been happening before that.

What’s odd is that it’s from the same original stock as the others, they are all next to each other, but it’s only this one particular frag...

That torch appears to be a little close to where the coral looks stressed, even if it's not physically touching there could be some chemical release that's causing the stress.
Thanks for the reply, although that’s a large Purple Cespitularia.
