Few months. My clowns keep picking on my mushroom which is now spitting out its guts and decreased to half its original size. It is on a rock base so I put it inside said cup so they can no longer bother it. Getting a larger tank in a month or so should probably fix them being so aggro..

It should only be temporary, but yes I will be creating some holes in it.

I think you will be fine, sounds like a food grade drinking cup.

It should be fine. I’ve used polystyrene beads as biofilter media with no negative effects.
