So I just did a three day blackout as part of my self-determined method of fight bryopsis. U uncover my fuge to find that my huge Pom Pom macros have gone almost completely white.

So my question bis simply, is it dying from lack of light? Or, does this macro turn sexual like Caulerpa species are known to do?

Hello! Not really sure but let me give you a lil' bump and maybe someone will chime in.:)

Mean xenia coral?? Never heard of a pom pom macro algea.

but pom pom xenia is really common

And no it's not going asexual, needs light. Now Pom poms can take over a tank, like just about an easy soft coral but they dont do it like a macro algea

Xenia is not a macroalgae but needs good light and iodine can spread fast depends on your tank

It is definitely a macro, not a coral. I think it has also been occasionally referred to as a Palm Macro from comparing it to photos online.
