Hi everyone. I recently got a Pom pom Xenia because they are beautiful coral and heard they do well for beginners. (Which I am) but I woke up this morning to turn on my tanks light and he’s leaning over :(. Is he okay? His little legs are still Pulsing and he doesn’t seem to be melting as it happens to some

I don't know what the size of your tank is, but it might benefit from a small nano powerhead like a Sicce Voyager 1000.
I will probably do that. I’m gonna upgrade to a 50 gallon soon but right now I have a 20. I have 2 clownies That I wanted it to host. I also have the problem of my Talbot trying to control my tank

They'll lean away from the flow but as long as it is pulsing it's probably fine.

It’s still pulsing and I believe it’s leaning away from the flow so that’s a good thing. It looks like it’s shrinking now but I don’t think it is

Get some flow in the tank. Something simple and cheap will help, but the ocean has flow and you need some movement in there. The tank and animals will benefit. In a 20g you can get some nice little nano powerheads. These can then be used in future qts or even in the 50 as bonus flow as needed. :)

Okay thank you! I absolutely will!

I'm fairly new but I found these need a gentle sway action that a powerhead provides. I was like you and only had the stock filter running and my first xenia did what yours is doing. It first leaned then flopped over then started to shrink then it broke apart and melted (it took about 2 weeks for that to happen). Now I have the Voyager Sicce 1000 that was mentioned and everyone is much happier. My new xenia will sometimes lean but not flop and it will also stand straight up at other times. It's possible yours is leaning because of the flow but it looks more like it's flopping. You can try leaving it but if you see it start to shrink then you need a powerhead. My powerhead isn't pointed directly at it either. That would probably be too much flow depending on how close it is to the powerhead. Good luck!

Can’t even begin to explain to you how much I appreciate you. I’ve been trying to find a lower head that’s cheap and I struggled to know if it was good or not. Thank you. He was starting to droop and I moved him to a better spot and left to go to work for 5 hours came home and he looks happier! I’m gonna get a powerhead to add flow anyways. He did have a little piece of him fall off. I think my talbot damselfish ate it. Or it landed some where. That might be a good sign. Cuz he looks happy now and has 1 piece come of. Maybe he’s spreading? Which is what I want. I think I’m gonna do an only Pom Pom thing

I have a Royal gramma to balance things but it’s like my talbot just doesn’t enjoy my mocha storm clownie

That's great! I'm glad he's doing better! From the reading I've done breaking apart can be good or it can be bad. It's it's because it's dying the broken parts will most likely just melt away in the tank. That's what happened to mine when it broke up. If conditions are good and it's happy and healthy the broken bits will probably land somewhere else and grow. Hopefully that happens for you if you're looking to do an entire tank with just them. :-)
