Wow I have absolutely no clue based on that very unique pattern I went through every pomacanthus angel species I could find and searched juvenile and found nothing close enough to call definitively.

My best guess based on how blue it is, frequency in hobby, and some arbitrary design guess is a very unique Koran angel.

My second guess is an emperor but it doesn't look as likely to me, I am twice as sure it's a Koran as I am an emperor but not very confident in either ID. Emperor tend to have lighter markings and be overall much "whiter" in appearance.

Come to think of it, captive bred Annularis angels are out there and if I remember correctly many angels appear pretty irregular when bred in captivity I cannot imagine pomacanthus being any different.

I believe that other pomacanthus have been captive bred as well. It could just be a very unique pattern that has nothing to do with being captive bred just thinking "out loud"

That's gotta be some kind of crazy koran angel. Some kind of variation in the pattern. Cool looking for sure. I'd love to see another picture of this when it's older.

Could be any number of pomacanthus. Probably not imperator. I would lean annularius.
I agree the only reason I even thought emperor at all is that the markings angle back ever so remotely similarly and few pomacanthus do that but upon further inspection I think they're just so irregular and unique and the total color is way too dark. I missed the first out of water photo definitely not imperator

Its an aberrant P. semicirculatus (koran). I was just curious what everyone would say.
he has been named "Two-Face" because of the coloration

Yeah, it has the tail color/markings of semicirculatus, and lacks the spotting/chainlink on the fins that emperors develop.

Good brain teaser glad I lucked in to being correct hahaha
