I installed a new sump/cute yesterday on my 46 reef and I upgraded to a pond master 12(1200gph) it's a ton of flow. I have a valve on there and can limit the flow but I don't want to damage the pump. Anyone out there using a pond master and limiting the flow? Thanks.

Instead of restricting the flow of the pump (which could damage the pump), tee off the return line and return that pipe (with valve) to the sump. Here is a picture of an old sump where I did just that. Out of view is the ball valve were it re-enters the sump. The pipe going back up to the DT has no valve on it.
