Pooping Bowsers

Anyone else have pooping zoas? Took a look at my bowsers tonight and there was a black thread coming out of both of them. Never seen any zoa poop. My nems sometimes do but never seen a zoa do this.

I believe the bowser is a palythoa. My palys do this probably twice a week.

Did not realize they are not zoos and are plays instead. That is good I like plays better

bowsers are not palythoas, they are larger zoas that are often referred to as "palys"

Very few "palys" are actual palythoas.

The difference between palythoa and zoanthid is that palythoa use substrate to build their bodies where zoanthids don't.

if they poop excessively, it can be a sign of them getting too much light

+1 the "poop" is usually excess zooxantella being purged, lowering the light amount may help.
