Poor experience with UPS shipment

I ordered some coral on the AquaSD website for around 300-400$. (Scoly, acro and some other lps frags). The shipment is supposed to be delivered today, but due to weather it is delayed for another day. I set up somebody at home to receive the box today, but not for the next day. One things that I am not happy about the retailer is Storm warning had been issue 4-5 hours before the shipment. Why wouldnt they contact me to delay it, I could push it back another day. Other than that, Aquasd has been very helpful, they tried to contact me asap for the delay.
Would the coral survive for 48hours in bag?
How can you tell if the coral is dead when recieving it?
Also they mentioned about shipping policy, they are not responsible for ups delay.
Hopefully, I will not lose my coral. Feels really bad and frustrated

Try not to stress too hard. ASD are standup folks.

Here’s what I would do.
When you get the package , bring it in and take a picture of it. Open the box , take a pic. Pull out bag, take pic. Etc etc. just to cya.
They may ask for them , I don’t know.
They’ve never been combatative.

If the bag is brown nasty etc you’ll see it. You’ll also smell it when you open it.

Id acclimate as normal for those that are healthy looking. Take pics along the way.

They are pros, and it’s happened before.

Fwiw , corals are in a box or bag all the way from Australia and Indonesia every day and it’s more the. 48 hrs.

I agree. any time I have had an issue they made it right. Just a note, I had a shipment get delayed on me from Vivid, and every one of them did perfectly fine. They were freezing cold, so I took my time warming them and dripping them, but they all survived. Healthy stuff can take a lot.

Sorry to hear... sometimes mother nature, UPS or the airlines simply don’t cooperate with us. @saltyfilmfolks nailed it above.

Ive had a couple of coral orders delayed an extra day due to shipping issues and so far havent experienced any loss. Coral is usually ok the extra day so long as ut diesnt bake on an airport tarmak for 2 days. I have had fish survive an extra day too but seems less likely.
