Popcorn ceiling removal

My wife wants to remove the popcorn ceilings and I have two tanks running one that's 20 years old in one that's 6 months the guy came by explain to her what they do just wondering if anybody has had any issues with their tanks during popcorn ceiling removal. He said it involved spraying the solution on the ceiling and scraping and then when he repainted he said he would have to use an oil base which would have an odor if anyone has experience in this let me know thanks ahead of time

I covered my tank during the removal process (few hours). Fumes weren't that bad afterwards.

I removed some myself a few years ago (no fish tank then) and just used warm water and a putty knife, HUGE MESS! Just make sure to cover the tanks very well. If you can ventilate with outside air while they paint, that will help also.
