PoPom Xenia Frag Looks Dead

New to saltwater aquariums, 75 Gallon aquarium, all the parameters I’ve measured checked out, ammonia is < 2ppm, no trace of nitrite or nitrate, PH 8, they seemed fine this afternoon but she I got home at 7 there was only one stall still standing and now they’ve all seemed to have shriveled up! Is this something they do occasionally, I got them 2 days ago, the lighting is a stock LED light that came with the tank the light I ordered still hasn’t come in the mail, any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! I’ve also dosed the aquarium during a water change when I got the frag with some calcium if that helps!

im new to the hobby as well buy my xenia do close up from time to time, they are pretty much bullet proof. as for the lights idk what kinda of par your working with but im sure its enough for them. as far as the calcium dosing your doing im not sure the xenia is gonna benefit from that. if you dont mind me asking what made you dose calcium your salt should have enough to replace the little you lost between water changes. id be concerned with the ammonia it should be 0. just my 2 cents more experienced folks will come along and offer advice im sure

Thank you for replying back to me! That makes me feel a little better knowing they close up occasionally, as for the ammonia I was referring to was a ballpark, on the tests it stays the lightest color which indicates <2ppm the lowest the test I currently have will indicate for me.

and also for the calcium I was talking about I read online they could use it for the stalks but I could be misinformed there I figured better safe than sorry

o ok ya i think your fine then, i doubt you need to dose for calcium if your doing your water changes properly. again this is just my opinion from the experience ive had with my pulsing Xenia i know you said yours was pom pom. good luck and happy reefing.

The lights were on full blast since 7 AM, I run them 7AM-7PM sometimes and hour later, when I came home they were closed like that with the lights on completely, I turned off the lights completely and 15 minutes later I checked back and still closed up, there were a few stocks that opened back up and moved around with the flow of the tank but then later closed back up.
