I am about 10 days into cycling my new system. What do you folks suggest as a first addition to a stabilized tank ?
I must submit a request ( and $) to the state of Hawaii Agg dept. to import fish for my tank. There is quite a list of species that are allowed, but the permit request is very specific as to what I plan to import. All of this takes two -to three weeks for the paper work to be processed. Then I can order.
First marine tank, just cycled, beginner aquaist.
Appreciate any guidance. Robert

Do you have to have a permit to have a sw tank or can you buy from a lfs. It would seem easier to buy from a lfs

why do you want to know what others want in your tank? Make a list of what you want and research if they an all live together and that your setup is able to house them all. Best advise for new reefers looking to stock a tank. Dont take free corals and make the tank your own. cheers

I'm carving my own trail here. The only LFS supplier on this island is Petco, and they are useless. I am applying for my permit, but as mentioned, the paper work takes weeks, then you can order fish. From the mainland ! The supplier doesn't need to be certified, but the recipient does. No help locally.

@fabutahoun you have experience. I know in Saudi but any wAy you can help
Maybe it’s different in Hawaii, in Saudi Arabia I need to issue import permit that can be used only one time , we specify company name and list scientific , common names, quantities and sizes for every animal we are importing.
I always add extra fish in the list as an error margin.
Then the exporter should send us , health certificate, certificates of origin and invoice for customs
If the animals you are importing are CITES listed, the exporter should provide related documents.
