I have a green monti that has ecrusted on a very large rock that I want gone. There is now way of removing the rock so does anyone know of a way for me to...., hate to say it...., eliminate it. The monti is starting to grow on another rock and in due time, will come up on other colonies resulting in a war. I like the other mini colonies a whole lot more so would rather keep them. Plus, if I get rid of the monti, it'll free up real estate for new tenants. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kalk paste will take care of it fur sure. I have had to use it to cause some slight recession in one of mine as it encroached on my bali tri-color and started to overtake it.

What is the recipe for kalk paste? Is it kalk with a little water to make it thick? How would I apply it?

Just kalk with a little water. Turn off all flow in the tank. Spread some on with your fingers. This stuff has a pretty high pH, so going overboard all at once can mess with your tank chemistry if your colony is quite large. Also, don't let it spend much time (if any) on your skin. It will cause chemical burns. This is also why you must turn off the flow in your tank. Any flow and you risk dislodging some and having it land on other inhabitants, and it will harm them too. If you can somehow pop off parts of the colony, and then slowly kalk the rest, that'd be the fastest and safest way to go. Let the paste sit for 20-30 minutes I'd say.
