Hi, I’m relatively new to the saltwater hobby and I just inherited some new things for my tank from a friend of mine who was leaving the hobby and gave me the contents of his tank. He claims that this is some sort of coral colony but that’s all he told me. Does anyone know if this is a type of coral and what it is? Or is it something bad that I shouldn’t have in my tank. Thanks for the help!

Looks like it could be some zoas on a slab, or anything for that matter. If your tank is nice, or even perfect - might take a couple of weeks to open up.

I'm getting same thing, Palys on a zoa frag. They are growing like nobody's business. I purchased a grey-lump full of a frag a few weeks ago. Now I have Palys and Zoas. Not sure I wanted the Paly's. Buy a frag from petco and you get what you get, I guess.
