Hi

I recently had to rip apart most of my tank to get a nasty coral beauty who was nipping at corals. Finally got him out after many failed attempts.

But now i am having what looks like a red slime cyno sort of problem. I am not sure if its caused from low nutrients or just turning my tank upside down to catch him. I was feeding my tank more when i had the angel in to prevent him from nipping so much.

I am running phosphate out, bio pellets and have a small fuge which hasn't been going as good lately.

I am wondering what i can do to prevent this before it get worse. 95% of my corals still look good but worried that could change. I have zeofood plus and zeo start on hand, but dont know if those products will help.

Was planning on feeding more but want some opinions before I change anything

Looking for some advice, thanks.
(as you can see in the pic the far left is slimy the rest is coralline)

Cyano likes 2 things. Light and no or very little flow. Feeding your tank more or adding zeofood plus and zeo start will not do much to the cyano. Siphon it out along with siphoning your sand bed. This should help get rid of the cyano.
I wonder how your corals can survive on 0 phosphate and 0 nitrate?

Well I am waiting for my phosphorus test kit. Cause both my phosphate tests are pretty much zero! The Cyano area has pretty good flow.

it is almost impossible to siphon it off the rocks. I even used a brush and it wouldn’t come off.

If you can’t siphon it off and it doesn’t come off with a brush it makes me think it’s not cyano.

Dark red that wont come off the rocks is almost certainly corraline. Sometimes the corraline will change colors depending where you move it to. When corraline is exposed to air for too long, it turns flourescent pink before it dies. I thought i had scored some hot pink glowing rocks one day. Next day gone :( along with all the pretty purple algae lol.
Corraline growth is an odd thing to observe. It comes and goes and then comes back with his whole family and distant relatives >.<
