See picture below. My blue hornets haven’t been opening lately and I noticed this on them today. What is it if anything? What should be my course of treatment? If it matters I do have other zoanthids in the tank. Thanks!

Can you get a pic with more white light? Did anything land on or sting it recently?

Blue hornets along with other zoas with generally smaller polyp diameter tend to be a little finicky.
As long as it isn’t showing Umbrella or Bell shaped polyps then it may just be a norm when it comes to smaller zoas.

There are a few things you can do to help the zoas open up again:

If it is new to the tank it may just be unfamiliar with the PAR of the lights, light spectrum, temp, water params, flow.

I try to imitate the same or similar environment it was collected or grown.

Don’t move zoas so much around the tank.

Maybe it’s just something that’s been rubbing on the Zoa (yes even copepods/amphipods May irritate it)

If all out fails then I would look into Vitamin C dosing which helped many reefers with problem with zoas/palys. However you must keep your nutrients in check as it is a source of carbon dosing.
