Possible EMERGENCY because of a leaking broken pump

So, a few days ago I started a thread abut a sudden retraction of all corals (https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/sudden-retraction-of-all-corals.943885/page-2), We concluded it was a lack of nutrients and a Mg imbalance but today the tank started to smell funny (metallic) and one of my turbo snails is about to die, I just realized that a pump malfunctioned in my sump and started to rust inside of the tank, Idk how many days have the pump been leaking but im not sure if I should do an emergency water change, what do you think??

I'm thinking a 50% water change but that would probably bump my Kh up to 11s because I use reds coral pro salt. Worth the risk???

So what exactly has happened with the pump? Has it melted from within or something to that effect? Have you replaced it since? I think you would be best at the very least to start with a 50% WC and prep for another

The cable broke inside the tank (I don't even know how that happened), the pump itself is in good condition but what worries me is the smell and the turbo snail.
I managed to pinpoint the broken cable because I noticed some bubbles coming off from it when the pump was plugged in

Well it might not be as bad as you think. I would still do the 50% WC and wait and see on the next. Things might even bounce back without a WC but it certainly can't hurt

All right, im just worried about the high Kh, my corals just went through a major stress (probably because of the cable) and I'm worried that the Kh change will hurt them more

What is your KH now?

Honestly it probably won't raise your KH THAT much, possibly back into the 11's but you can work it down again. Have things improved since you got rid of the pump?

I threw it out 35 mins ago haha, I don't think anything would change (for the better) that fast. For the moment everything looks the same. should something look better by now?

Not always, but if you had noticed any improvement it might mean you could skip the WC.

Honestly everything looks the same right now but its also 11pm here so all the lights are out, I have seen a very big improvement on my corals health in the last 3 days though

Well, maybe hold off until the morning on the WC and see what they look like then. But have the water ready just incase. The longer you let RSCP sit, the more it's numbers will drop which might be beneficial as well

Ohh, sorry hahaha.
Well, that sounds like a plan. I just hope the Turbo doesn't die in the middle of the night. it's really weak, if I take it out of the water (I try not to in order to not stress him even more) he doesn't even hide inside it's shell
