My Nano has been running for a couple years and after pushing the nutrients way up some new feather dusters just popped out of this rock randomly. Its like the heavy spike of nutrients crept deep into the rock and boom they sprouted! They have a hard shell like tube, but I've never seen any with this coloring. Are they feather dusters? They suck back inside when blown on or irritated.

Also any idea what kind of coral that is next to it? Was on my live rock when I received it but now its a decent size to ID. Thanks guys!

The coral looks like a galaxy coral, and I’d swear those “dusters” are yellow polyps but they wouldn’t have a tube. Can you get a pick under white lights?

Will do, does a galaxy coral have feelers it puts out at night? Cause this looks the same 24/7, might shrink back a bit but doesn't change much.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I agree with you it looks like galaxy and yellow polyps

Yes those are yellow polyps, yes galaxy coral does have feelers it sends out. Closer pic of it and one of it closed when you can see the skeleton would know for sure.

No feelers at night on this one, I'll get a pic of both skeletons once the lights go out.

Not sure on the coral but I think the tubes are hydroids hopefully someone will confirm....

Definitely yellow polyps, can you get a good close up of the coral in the back, the skeleton doesn’t look like a galaxy, looks more like a flower pot. Goniopora
