So about a week ago my Wife called me and said she noticed one of the tentacles from our hammerhead attached to our acan coral.
I released the tentacle and went on with my day.

now a week later. I’m noticing that, maybe 3 heads from that same side of the acan have closed and not reopened. Looks very brown.

has anyone seen this before?
Are these corals too close to each other?
Could this be cause from too much shade due to the hammerhead?

any help or theory is appreciated

I'd move asap, they can go to war with one another, and instead of losing one piece you potentially can lose both. I saw a guide once on sweeper tentacles and coral compatibilities. If I find it again I'll post it here.

Theres a youtube video(I'll see if I can find it) showing how corals use chemical and stinging tentacles as warfare.

It has some great time lapse videos. Think it was a Nat Geo show.

Sheesh. Great time lapse. Thanks for the help guys. I was pretty sure that’s what was going on. But I was just shocked cause they have grown next to each other since frags. But I guess the children are demanding they’re own bedrooms now. I’ll relocate today. Thanks again guys.
