Possible Hitchiker mushroom?

I bought some GSP at my lfs and found a puple soft tissue coming off the side of the frag plug. I originally thought this was a purple mushroom, is this just part of the green star polyps? I have the possible mushroom mounted to my main rockwork, so im posting here to see if it should be removed. sorry for poor image quality.

I sent the photo to LFS, they said it looks like a tunicate / sponge.
