Hi

So I have had this Zoa frag for a about 2 month and the past few weeks it hasn’t really opened beyond a couple of polyps peaking out. The other 4 Frags are doing great in my qt and growing extra polyps.

It seems to have these fuzzy things growing between the polyps and I suspect it’s hydroids by doing some reading and research on the forum.

I assumed coral dips like CoralRX don’t do much since it was already dipped when it went in so I tried a 50/50 peroxide dip for 5 mins and rinsed in 2 separate tank water cups to get peroxide off and put back in qt. Still seem to have the hydroids there. There’s too many to pick off with tweezer. Can I go full concentration peroxide or other solution? Or should I remove to protect the rest of the zoas?

Thanks

Possibly a type of branching hydroids, very hard to tell from the picture.

Branching hydroids. Cut on the feeding a little bit the feeds on suspended particulate matter and plankton.

Anything kill them? It’s in my coral qt. Don’t want to carry a problem with a $30 frag into my display.

Those suckers can pack a powerful punch and will multiply. I would try cutting them out while in a separate container of water, or just toss the frag. I wouldn’t want those in my display if I were you.

Ya I did another peroxide dip at 70% strength and cut out what I could with a scalpel. If I see any of them have survived by tomorrow night the frag will have to go. I’m too meticulous with my QT to take a chance with this.
