Hey everyone! So I recently bought a coral beauty angelfish from LiveAquaria One day after it came in I noticed a singular white dot on its back but it seems to have disappeared. I know from experience that this is probably ich or flukes, but my question is that if I just leave him in the tank and let him fight them off will they come back in a month or two or three, or if no signs of them are present that long that they will just be gone for good? I currently have him as the only fish in the tank right now and is exhibiting perfectly normal fish behavior. Thanks!

p.s. I have a qt ready to go just in case but I don’t want to stress him out more if I don’t have to.

Consider a freshwater dip to either confirm or eliminate flukes from the situation.

Would a dip tell me anything if there aren’t any visible parasites on him at the moment?

A dip will tell you if the fish has flukes or not as they will turn white like sesame seeds and fall off. Ich on the other will not do this. Its a microscopic parasite that you will not see until embedded into the fishes skin.

Ok thanks! I’ll do that later tonight then
Here's a thread with more info and how to do the freshwater dip. Best of luck with your fish!
