So I just changed tanks. Got rid of old sand and replaced with new agraalive. Reused old tank water with addition to fresh salt mixed to compensate for additional tank volume. No new fish no new coral and I believe I have ich on one fish so far. The previous tank was running for a year and no ich period. I have no qt atm since I just moved. Is it possible I got the ich from the sand or just stress from moving tanks. Also what can I do to treat my dt. Tia

I know they will ask for your perameters and pics. What are you stocked with? I doubt if it's the sand, I would lean more towards stress if you haven't added anything new.

It’s the two spots beside each other mid body. I’ve had ich a long time ago and treated in a qt. But that was over a year ago. Haven’t checked params considering it’s only been four days and basically did a 60% wc during the transfer. Pretty sure everything is next to zero. I have two maroon clowns a lawnmower blenny and a orchid dottyback. Longspine urchin and various cuc. Don’t think my params are too out of whack since my monti’s and chalice are still colored up along with the birdsnest

Possible that the fish has Lympho which is harmless and can be managed with great quality food and great water quality. It can be brought on by stress. Ich however is a parasite that exists. It is not brought on by stress. It is possible that one of your fish has been acting as a carrier of the disease. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks I’ll be looking into that. I just noticed it today and they were all stressed out a good bit from the move. It took a little long than I planned. Thanks for the help.

Ich is possible. I wouldn't freak out yet.

Looking at the pic, black fish are kind of alarming. My Achilles gets a spot like that now and again from rubbing a rock or a tang scuffle etc.

Keep an eye on your fish. If the tank is re-arranged it is possible the fish just aren't used to the scape yet.

The stress from the move may have allowed ich to take hold if you were in an ich management situation, although if this is the only fish and it's only one spot I don't think it's likely.

I think you just observe them if this goes away in a day or two you are probably in the clear.

Did you QT these fish originally back when you got them?

FYI there is no "safe" treatment for erradicating ich in the DT if more symptoms arise or spots begin to multiply.

The fish in question is weird I got it roughly 8 months ago from a guy that had it a year. I seen the fish for roughly a month before I got it and it looked healthy. Haven’t had a problem with it. The bad in all this. When I got this fish I had just lost all my fish because of ich. I treated the tank without fish for a month and I thought I was in the clear then I got this fish. It never broke out until now. It was in that tank for about 4 months and a year in the tank it just moved from. I’ll keep a close eye on my guys and hopefully all turns out well. I’m hoping it’s just from stress considering it’s the only fish affected.
