Hello,

I just introduced a new clownfish to my tank yesterday after having my single clownfish in there along for a couple weeks. He was perfectly fine with no spots or anything on him at all. Today i wake up and see they are in good health, i go to eat breakfast, come back and see my new clownfish has a bunch of white spots everywhere on him.

I know this seems crazy but is there a chance he might have gone into the sand or something to cause some debris to stick to him? Is there any way for me to quickly determine if i should be worried or not?

I know the quality isn't good but i tried to take some pictures. He is about 1 inch in size.

thank you.

I also heard there is a thing called Stress Ich (new fish to tank)? Should i monitor and see how he is tomorrow morning to start medicating or taking my next action step?

Sorry for your troubles. These pictures are a bit blurry so it is hard to tell, but it does look like it could be ich or possibly lympho. The 3rd picture looks more like mucus hanging from the tail portion but again it could be the quality of the photo. Clowns are susceptible to brooklynella (clownfish disease) which in the early stages can look like that.

I attached three threads below to help you identify which one looks and sounds like whats you're seeing first hand.

Good-luck!

Thank you so much for those links and the help! It's extremely upsetting after this will be my second clownfish that seems to have gotten ill...but i do see improvement and the white spots I had originally seen on have gone away for the most part. I will be monitoring the fins closely and make a decision on how to act tomorrow!
