Possible issue with Naso

Breathing is normal looking to me. Or, if anything, just slightly elevated. As I would expect a nervous fish to be, really. Though I may be projecting based on what's being discussed...

That video wasn't that good, sorry. Here's a pic that better shows the state:

Yes; some spine is visible when it's turning or the light hits it from the right angle.

Managed to find some red nori at PetCo. Dropped some in around the fish, but no interest yet.

No; no pecking at anything. Occasionally "nudges" the glass, but it looks more like confusion than feeding.

I find it great that a number of us have kids of the same age. Just another thing that we have in common. :)

Yes sir (on the kids). With red nori, rubber band it well to a small rock near where the fish hangs out ;). This mimics how it feeds naturally.

I did that, yeah. Then the snails got to it. Now I have bits of red nori being blown about the tank. :-\ Ah well; a few pieces seem to get blow into his mouth every so often, so perhaps it'll help...

Maybe he's absorbing nutrients from the water like the corals. o_O Seriously though, hopefully he perks up and starts eating when you introduce the live food. Could he be eating what's left of the nori at night after lights out? Mine do that, my purple is a huge scaredy cat and hides anytime I'm near by.

Could be, but I'm not sure. Even during QT, he (note that I'm assuming it's a "he" for convenience sake - I don't think I can determine its sex yet...?) would actively eat frozen food. I think the problem is about him being scared of all the new tank mates.

I'll point out that he's the largest thing in the tank by a good inch or more. This is a thing in our house. The larger of our two dogs (a 75# akita/shepherd mix) starts to shake in terror when a baby bird outside chirps. She's a total chicken...

Marine Depot had Nutramar. Finicky fish love it.
I'll order some, but they don't ship out till Monday. And I haven't been able to find another vendor with it in stock. :-\
I have tried to feed some Rod's Food, but no luck there either. Other fish loved it, however...

Try some garlic oil in the food?
I've got some garlic-nori around here somewhere; just need to find it...

I think my next step is to move him out of the DT back into his own QT for a bit. Fatten him up again and then try again. Just need to get the QT cleaned out...

I am of the opinion leave him be and get him eating. That would be great if you can find the garlic nori. That is how I got my whole tank addicted to nori. Who does not like a good meal with garlic:)

Try spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. [emoji39]

I would leave the fish be, stress is likely the culprit and adding stress probably won't help.

Yeah; that's where I'm at as well. I'll put everything I can in front of him, but other than that will try and keep my distance. Once he does start eating, I'm sure that he'll gain weight again quickly (I've a pretty heavy hand on the feeding thing, plus VitaChem soaked everything).

Any luck with blackworms or live brine?

I've had fish that refused to eat for 1-2 weeks gobble them up ravenously

Couldn't find live worms last night and work kept me in the house all day (crunch time for a client). I didn't get the live brine mixed up either. Ugh. Too much going on right now... Need to focus a bit on this tonight once the girls are abed.

I did manage to get an order in for some Nutramar, but it won't be here till Tuesday, at best. :-(

I would be putting brand new carbon in to help absorb any toxins out of the water to be covered on that basis. Who knows what the old carbon leached into the system....other than that try to get him to eat and melypr, humble, and 4fordfamily have got you covered
