What are these for sure. They are only on my astrea snails. That I know of anyway... I never see my nassarus snail he's always pretending to be a sand submarine. I do not have any clams. I also never see them on the rocks. I picked off all the ones I could find, 6 total. My astrea is angry, see him eye balling me?

When they're on clams you can freshwater dip them, If their on other snails you don't have that option. I'd quarantine your snails and manually pick them off while you starve out the left over population in your main tank. Ive also heard some wrasses will eat them, but that comes down to the individual wrasse.

Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in.

Grrrr. Thank you, any idea of the best way to get rid of them?
Don't put that snail back in your tank.
Isolate all your snails and remove those mini monster by hand pretty much since if you using chemical it will kill everything :)
If you have CLAM then check your clam right away and remove those pyramid snail if any on your clam.
Don't put new snail in your tank until you possible they are none left or get a six line wrasse to munch on those pyramid snail.
Then check your tank after light out, they come out at night time and don't pass out if you seeing an army of them :p

[emoji23][emoji23] I'll try not to pass out. I have a cleaner wrasse but I think he's only good for acrobatics. Not much of a pest picker, but he keeps my tang company. I picked both snails clean and scrubbed them with a toothbrush then rinsed well.

I only have a couple snails so isolating won't be too difficult. How long should it take to starve the pyramids? I can't seem to find a timeline for that.

Also, I have urchins, an emerald crab and a handful of hermits, do the pyramids feed off those? Or just clams (which I have none) and snails?

From documentary those pyramid snail is clam and other bigger snail killer, its feed off the slime/juice from clam and other snail.
I don't know how long for their eggs to hatch, or how long gonna take for them to die off without food.
You can put your snail back in your tank (use the snail as a bait trap) but you will need to check them daily until you can't find any pyramid snail on them.

Thats a question with a lot of variables. Especially considering the exact species isn't known.

I think the best thing to do is keep a clean tank with minimal feedings, Ive read accounts of small particulate food blooming populations (stuff like rods food thats meant to feed fish and corals.)

That being said Gravel vac often, feed sparingly and most importantly search and destroy. A flash light and a pair of long tweezers are probably your best bet.

They are pyramids. We are going through the same thing. We believe we got them from a snail we bought. What are plan is, is to leave the tank Without any larger snails. They will also attack collonista snails as well so you are looking at about a year or longer to make sure they are completely gone. I have not found a resource yet that tells you how long you have to wait, so we are going to guess and wait a year and then add one snail and see if we notice any on it before we add more back in.

Good thing is, I only have a 39g D-tank with just the 2 astreas, and the one nassarus, so It won't be hard to isolate. I think, in fact, since it is so easy to find and pull my snails, I will leave them as bait and continually pull them and scrub them... would that be ok?

If you leave the snails in your tank as bait you are still giving the snails a food source and a reason to breed. The babies are much harder to see. Imo I would remove them

I'm not sure, if there feeding there might be egg laying by ones you don't find on the snails.

Unfortunately removing there entire food source is necessary. They will eventually make it to your nassarius snails. Cleaning the tank is a pain now with a limited clean up crew. We have a lot of collinistas so it will be a while before there gone.
Dang. Ok. Guess that'll have to happen. I was just thinking, I have had this spare tank set up and cycled and ready to go for months and never used it... maybe I'll break it down... wrong! I'll put the snails in it.

They do not feed off hermits, emeralds or urchins, correct?
