So ive had a couple triton test done on my old 100g and just sent in my first for my 300g system. Mind you the only things these two systems share in common is one return pump and my skimmer body. Every thing else has been upgraded to a larger new piece to suit the system volume. And the pump ive checked out and is in great shape. (Twin waveline 12000s) skimmer is an eshopps 300 something or another but i swapped the pump for a new sicce.

So i digress back to the test. Ive sent in control test on my tap, rodi, fresh salt mix using reef crystals and 2 or three test from my 100g system which is no longer operating and my new 300g (425ish system) both tanks have had elevated levels of Sn and Al, but not my source water so it has to be something i or my equipment have introduced. Either food or a failing piece something like that. Also not running any media on the new tank since doing the prodibio dosing.

So i noticed today and its happened a lot with this tank and my 100, when i reach in and have to root around on the bottom sometimes i get down to my armpit in the water. And realized that theres is a really good chance my deodorant has contributed to the sn and al cause both are prominent ingredients in many popular deodorants.

Any body else ever accidentally dip their pits?

Dont know for sure but seems like it could be a real thing

I always dip my pits when cleaning deep tanks and haven't see any issues with my animals as a result but I also use deodorant that doesn't have Al in it.
I have not used triton tests as of yet but believe the info they provide is of great value. Have you thought of switching to a deodorant that has no
Al better for you, maybe for your reef as well. Best of luck, until then keep those pits dry..

To be honest i haven't found anything on it either. But i was watching that show "how its made" when i had this idea and they specifically said tin and aluminum are key ingredients depending on the manufacturers blending.

I had a tin pollution when starting my tank a couple of months ago. The only thing i can think of is unpurotys in my new sand. Everything else was tripple checked and apart from equipment the only new factor in the tank was the sand.

A few large waterchanges later the tin was gone and the same equipment is in the tank today.
