My pair lives in a barnacle at night, and are actively out and about most of the day. Yesterday I noticed the male doing his submission flashy flash dance, the female going to her barnacle chamber and shimmy a little, him going to his and flashing for her again. They would then come back out, swim a bit and go back. I know they take refuge in their respective spots when they are scared and at night but never just because during the day. I’ll try and video this if I see it again today, but I was just wondering if they are trying to flirt and find a good spot to spawn, or are they just being strange?

Sounds like mating behavior. Sometimes they practice for a while before they actually lay eggs. Either way, keep observing and good luck!

So this morning I go to do my normal routine. Lights are on and clowns are out playing. So to the fridge for the a+b, and bringing them to the tank. They know this is also feeding time. Or they should. Anyhow I’m coming to the tank, shaking the bottles like normal no swifter than normal. The female sees me and FREAKS slap out! The bolts, causing the male to do the same. They jet UNDER a base rock. I carry on, turn off skimmer, pull socks and lift the top. Mix the reef roids in the a and b, swirl for a few, then add to the tank, over the few corals. Male comes out, female doesn’t. It really freaked her out! I add food and finally she pops out. I may have to get a nem, but I’m scared. I’m not sure I’m ready.
Pics after she decides the food lady is no longer a threat. She bumped her widdle head on the rocks but it’s fine. No bleeding or cuts, just seems a little blemish on the scales. Would this sudden fright have anything to do with maturity? She used to be so brave. (Lots of pics cause she’s pretty)
