Hi guys, i was wondering if is possible to prepare a KH solution with a precise KH value so that i can see wich one of my test are the more trusthworty? If yes, any recipe available?

You can also buy a standard acid and determine alk on your tank water, and see which of your devices matches it best.

What are you trying to test? You can make an alk standard for a normal titration kit, but I would not assume it works with the Hanna.
I have 1 alk test JBL and 1 from salifert. JBL read 8dkh and salifert 11.8....so, i would like to get a rought idea of who to believe.

Problem is i have not many chemicals available. I have sodium nitrate and sodium phosphate, clhoridrate de calcium, and carbonate de calcium and bicarb soda. I have a precision scale. Anything i can do with that to get a rough result? I tought to work with your recipe 2 for alkalinity...you think it can work?

This thread has some recipes:

I have found this recipe

but obviously too many variable to be sure is spot on i have used a new mg. capable scale but who now if is correctly calibrated.

Anyway, i have tried and JBL test gives me 6 and salifert gives me 9.6 ...sooooo....i have bought a tropic marin test and will let him decide who is right. Hope is it jbl since i am dosing accordingly yo those tests...if they're wrong so much i have touched 13/15alk in the past weeks.

That is not as good as the recipes I posted because of concern about how much of the bicarbonate is truly bicarbonate (rather than carbonate), and how much moisture will be there when using it.

But since you have it, It's worth a try. Its math is correct.
