Hi - a question for the experts out there.

I have an opportunity to purchase a 1000L aquarium - it was newly built and the owner doesnt want to deal with customs to bring it into the country. Its going for a good price.

Leaving the customs issues aside - it has 2X50mm return pipes (to the sump) - and 1X32mm inflow (from the sump back to the tank).

The inflow seems quite low to me as 1X32mm - would this be a problem?

Thanks

A 32mm pipe can drain almost 4000l/hr with just gravity, so under pressure from a pump you could quadruple that. Lots of charts and calculators on the web for this.

You can increase line diameter or stronger flow return pump

Will increasing the line diameter have an effect if the hole going into the tank is 32mm?

Im not worried about the drain at 2X50mm - Im concerned about whether there would be enough flow going back into the tank. The pump can handle it - its spec'd for tank of this size (its a royal exclusive dragon X I believe) - Im more concerned about the single pipe itself.

The tank Im having designed and built is 2X40mm coming back into the tank - whereas this tank only has 1X32mm.
