Possible yellow tang murderer?

So over the last couple months I noticed all my snails were dieing and figured another fish(six line wrase) was the culprit so I caught him and gave him to a buddy. Recently I added a bunch of new snails and invertebrates to the tank and noticed a few days after I'm finding empty shells and crabs and snails pulled out of their shells. Only new addition in the tank is the yellow tang all the rest have been in the tank 2+ years without a problem. My question is has anyone heard of this happening before with a yellow tang and if he is the culprit what should I do with him?

Never heard of a Yellow Tang attacking either one of those, and I've had quite a few Yellow Tangs in my time.

Only other fish in the tank are 2 clowns and a blue tang and their scared of there own shadows I walk by tank and they go hide in the rocks. Only one that stays out is the yellow.

You have a Whelk Snail or other carnivore critter in the tank?

Nope just turbo snails narsaria snails(spelling?) and red legged hermits

I'm putting my money on a hitchhiker crab.....he's in there! Best to check the tank after lights have been out for some time using a flashlight.

I agree. odds are it's a hitchhiking crab of some sort. most will hide by day and hunt under the cover of night.

Ah, Nass Snails. They look alot like their carnivore snail brother, the Welk Snail. Look em up. They look alike, but the Welk is a nasty snail.

Did you use live rock? Maybe you have a mantis shrimp or bobbit worm hitchhiker.

Are any of the hermits a good size? They almost always develop a taste for escargot eventually.

Wife & I do this on the weekends. Stay up until 1 or 2 am doing nothing. Then we pay for it come Monday morning.

Me too, I am a natural night person. I'll stay up til two or three watching Netflix. Lol
