Possibly Ich Different Than What I Have Seen In The Past????

Ok I am in a bit of a pickle now.

I am in the middle of a move. I sold my DT a week ago, and all of my fish and coral have been moved to a 20 gallon AIO, a 50 gallon AIO and a 50+Sump Frag tank. All the fish in both the 20 and 50 AIO have been fine.

Tonight I was checking in on the frag tank and all of a sudden (within the last day) my two tangs have developed LOTS of odd spots. I have seen ich before but it has always presented as defined white granuals similar to salt grains. These spots are raised and look like they are fuzzy. Kinda like cotton. I got the best pictures I could. I see no spots on the pair of PJ Cardinals I have in the tank.

1. So a couple of questions. Is this Ich?

2. If it is ich, how would you treat it in my situation. They are currently in a frag tank with ALL of my coral. They will moving upstairs starting on Friday so the carpet and walls can be done down stairs. I can't move them to the 50 gallon and treat them there until then.

I have most common medications I might need already packed in the attic but I can get to them after the carpet guys leave tomorrow.

Cottony, fibrous in texture, probably Lymphocystis. Harmless virus, usually. Treat with pristine water conditions, but that may not be possible for you now. High quality foods. Add to the food Beta Glucan. It tremendously helps the fish's immune system. And can really help with the lympho symptoms.

Food + Beta Glucan + Focus (binder) + RO to reach the consistency you desire. More info on Beta Glucan below:

Yes, usually lympho presents with just a few spots. But I've seen some really bad cases where the fish was covered with the stuff. The only other possibility is a fungus infection which is pretty rare in saltwater fish. Fungus is best treated with antibiotics like Sulfaplex + Neoplex in a QT. But it's rare to see fungus. Looking less and less like ich. Here are some pictures with the whites on. Maybe flukes? The yellow tang seems to have strings or worms hanging off. I got another 50 gallon ready to go.

Those "strings" you are seeing may be the "fibrous" presentation of lympho. But if you are thinking you are seeing flukes, by all means, give it a freshwater dip. It will confirm or eliminate your concerns.
