Questions on basement sump plumbing thread

30ft of Horizontal Plumbing? Sump in stacked stone basement?

Alright, so I have an old house (1886) with a stacked stone foundation. Oh, and we are on an aquifer, i have 2 creeks near the house, my well doesn't stop flowing, so the basement is also wet. I want to put the sump down in the basement, since the well pumps and home water filters are all down...

Im just making a very general shopping list, trying to plan and budget out for the next build. I have looked through the Reef Setup Thread/Article, but feel like I am still missing something (other then livestock). What am I missing? It is all very generic for now. Tank and Stand 117...

So as I previously mentioned, the spot changed, which means dimensions changed. It will be custom 42x36x18h. I'm waiting on some quotes to come back, but haven't decided rim or rimless. I've attached some pictures of where it will be (cardboard mock up...of course once the corner is all cleared out) and its sitting 32in high right now, but I think I'm going to raise it to 36-40" for viewing comfort. I am planning on a 40B sump in the stand under it, and hanging lights above it (got an outlet in up high).

Where should the overflow go though? Corner or center?

Also, with it being an old house the floor joists are very well supported on the 1.5ft wide footer, but I will be adding one brace at the center below the floor.

I would do a centered overflow vs the corner, if you need to do any maintenance on it it will be a huge pain in the back corner is this going to be an internal overflow? Looks like it but just wanted to confirm...

A tank that size I would suggest a Eurobraced design as well

Yes, all builders have said eurobraced. And either 1/2 " or 12mm glass.

that single piece of eurobracing on top does look amazing. I have always seen multiple pieces siliconed together.

I highly recommend a slim overflow that exits thru the back vs one that extends all the way to the bottom. Saves a lot of space.

In this case a slim external overflow would actually cost space instead of save it. He can't move the tank 4-5 inches off the wall because of the doorways where it's going he would then have to take that 4-5 inches off the size of the tank. Which means losing a significant amount of real estate inside the tank to do so

It's a rare thing although apparently it's catching on. I also love that the Eurobracing on my tank sits on top instead of inside the tanks edge which lends itself to a much cleaner look.

Making some slow progress. Bought a used rodi from a local reefer leaving the hobby (moment of silence), but for a couple extra dollars, he threw in everything he had left. So, its starting to happen, my reef equipment collection is beginning to form. Couple heaters, coupe pumps, refractometer, nets.
