Hey everyone I’m going to purchasing a yellow banded possum wrasse soon!
I‘m just curious to see if anybody here has one and if you could say which (white banded, Tanaka’s, yellow banded) you do have.
If anybody possibly has any care tips on these guys, i would appreciate it!
Pictures are definitely welcome ;)

I have a yellow banded and he's quite a cool fish. Drifts around all day through the rock work looking for pods. It also eats flake and frozen food.

I've had a couple. The last one I lost to jumping through a small hole in the lid. No fish seem to bother the small pygmy wrasse. Also, the first never ate food added to the tank. Seemed to survive on what he hunted in the tank. I don't think I would add one to a newer tank due to the need to survive at least partially on pods available.

I have a Tanaka and absolutely love these guys (wetmorella's in general). They are cryptic at first, but will eventually come out more in time. As mentioned, having an established tank with lots of rock and plenty of pods is a must. I would say 30 gallons minimum tank size and with no competitors for pods.
My Tanaka cruises in and out of the rock all day long and in the evening comes out more in the open, towards the front of the tank.

Hard to get a good pic of the pygmy wrasse. He likes to drift in and out of the shadows.

Have a yellow band possum great fish. Shy for first few weeks but more and more out and about. Mines strict pod eater never seen him tempted by frozen or other foods.

I also have a yellow band. Very cryptic fish but he darts long the bottom of my frag tank picking at pods and any frozen food I give.
