So,

I bought 2 clowns and a lawnmower blenny from the same lfs after setting up my used (already cycled) setup.

One clown looked terrible that night, and bit the dust within a couple of days.
The blenny did, has always, and still looks and acts like a normal lawnmower blenny.

So, I removed the other clown, gave it a 45 minute formalin/meth blue bath, and then transfered him to a prazipro QT. The bottom of the tank was peppered with flukes.

Common sense told me that, if the clown had flukes in the DT I either need to remove the blenny (which I can't catch) or treat the DT.

After the next water changed I put the clown back in DT and treated the tank with prazi pro.

All are acting normal. However, the clown still looks to have "sore" or "enflamed" dark gills. Is it possible this is from the mass eradication of flukes or am I dealing with something else here?

Its hard to tell in the pictures, but the gills are darker, and at the bottom of the gill plate there is a spot that doesn't belong.

I have one more round of prazi to dose.

Any insight is appreciated.

Depends on which type of flukes the fish had. There are three basic types. One goes for the eyes, another one seems to favor the gills, and lastly, one seems to favor the skin. Possible you may have had the one that favored the gills where it was doing some damage. Might have a bacterial infection setting in. Do you have Ruby Reef Rally? You can treat the DT or in a bath. Preferred in the bath. RRR treats the infection it has a bit of Furan and Acriflavine. Together they act somewhat like an antiseptic and antibiotic.

I don't have RRR, but I do have kanamycin. Would that work as a replacement, or should I order some ruby reef rally?

Kanaplex (kanamycin) is a great antibiotic. Have had great results using RRR as a 60-90 minute bath and then following with an antibiotic that is a wide spectrum that treats both gram positive and gram negative bacterial infections. Kanaplex is good as are Furan2, NFG powder (amazing product).

So, probably not a bad Idea to do a 90 minute Kanaplex bath, then return to the Prazi DT and see how things go?

Kanaplex like most antibiotics is best absorbed through the skin of the fish. A brief bath probably won't help much. It needs to be dosed over 10-14 days. RRR is your best bet for a bath. And then follow with antibiotics in the QT for 10-14 days.

So, I have proceded with the bath, followed by Kanaplex in QT. He's on his first round of Kanaplex.

He doesn't seem stressed at all and is still eating fine.

However.... I noticed over the past week that 3 lateral veins in his body are visible... anyone ever experience this?
