I have had a BTA for 2 years... It split once. It is in a 48 gallon bow front reef tank set up 15 years. It does have a hosted nemo.

A few questions:
* Do you feed your BTA? I have heard mixed reports on feeding them? Some say feed them silversides some say you don't need to feed your BTA if it has a clown?
* Can someone show me (Photo please) what a properly protected power head looks like? Before my BTA found its host I wrapped my powerheads with netting however was never sure this was required. Are some power heads BTA friendly - I have Hydra powerheads seem like they are safe to me? Photo below
* How does my BTA look? He is stringy does that mean feed him more? Or more light? At times he has had bubbles.. It seems the presence of bubbles on a BTA is not fully understood?

I feed mine several times a week, but it's not always necessary. your anemone's health will tell you if it needs to be fed. I never feed silversides.

There really is no one way to "properly" protect powerheads. anything you cover it with will need to be cleaned quite regularly.

Yours looks fine. you're right, nobody knows why they bubble or not. they're somewhat a mystery regarding a lot of their behavior.

I have never fed my RBTA. I started with one and now have five. I dont protect my PH's with anything. I think as long as your lighting is good, and water parameters are in check the BTA should stay in place and grow quite nicely. As for bubbles vs no bubbles, I dont think anyone knows why. I have some BTA's right next to each other some are bubbles some are not...
A rule of thumb I tell ppl is dont get one for at least a year from the time you start your tank if you are new. Anyway here are mine...

Turns out my second nem wasn't splitting on me. But I really don't have room for another anyway :)
