I have had a Lubbock wrasse in QT for almost a week. I dosed the recommended teaspoon to 20 gallons of Prazi, ran an airstone with an oversized HOB filter. Since its a wrass after 24hrs I did a 25% WC and added some carbon pad to the HOB to help remove remaining Prazi. When the lights came on this morning there seems to be a haze to the water. I expected it to be crystal clear, especially since I added carbon. Should I be concerned of a bacterial bloom or is this normal? Fish seems to be acting as normal as a Fairy wrasse can be in QT. Eating well but staying in the various hides most of the time.

Sounds like a bacterial bloom, if a small one. Was there anything else in the tank like copper or Prime?

Nope, just the Prazi. Added the airstone back in just to be safe.

Speaking of prime is there a period I need to wait after using the Prazi where it would be safe to use in case I need it? I know I cant use it probably at least the first 72 hrs after Prazi dosing.

Well, I wouldn't use it at all if it were me, but I would do another water change at least and let the carbon run for a few days before risking it with the prime.

I've have prime on hand just in case, never needed to use it. What don't you like about it? Seems like it could be useful especially in a quarantine tank.

It's not that I don't like the product. It's a good product, but shouldn't be used in conjunction with medications especially copper products. Copper can and will become extremely toxic when combined with Prime. There are meds that it doesn't seem to cause any issues with, but I never advise the combo of any med with an ammonia reducer since it's not worth the risk IMO.

Ok, gotcha. I thought you didn't like it for some reason. I definitely know to stay away when medicating. Thanks!

Yes, keep that bottle of Prime far away when using copper. I once almost dosed Prime thinking it was Stability into a QT with copper.

I bet that was quite the personal moment lol. I've done stuff like that before, and I'm over there making "whew!" noises and my husband is looking at me like I'm the weirdest person ever. I tell him what I almost did and he's just like "and?" They never get it

Haven't been able to do a WC yet after doing one yesterday. Just went to feed the wrasse and was excited to see he is actively swimming around exploring the tank. Only issue is he doesn't want to eat the mysis soaked in selcon. He either swims up and looks at it or tastes it and spits it out. He won't even look at pellets. Just no appetite? Only other thing I have is brine shrimp which I don't ever use. Could it be the prazi?

All medications, including Prazi can cause a loss of appetite. You can try to add a little garlic to the food and selcon to entice him to eat it. Of course prazi is only active in the water for 48 hours, so he should gain his appetite back after that anyway.

The mysis was soaked in selcon. Think he's just spoiled, just ate some chopped raw shrimp like a champ. Not sure if it's the mysis, selcon or both he's rejecting but I want to continue to get the vitamins in him.

Ahh. I have some spoiled fish as well. Just soak the chopped shrimp in the selcon and do what you can until he get's over it. ;)
