Yesterday I did a fairly routine wc on my 40.
Using rscp salt. Mixed for an hour and tested to match my dt. 1.026, ph 8.2, temp 79.0

Normally I see about a 50-75 point drop in Orp on my apex. Normally it reads in close to 400. Drops post wc, then climbs back up as I approach my next WC.

Today, I'm seeing it almost 200 points lower.

Checked and cleaned the probe a few minutes ago and now waiting to see where it goes.

From what I've read, is it true that am expired occupant can cause such a drop?

I have not seen my sailfin blennie in couple of days. He sometimes hides well.
I'm hoping that's the case, otherwise I'll be lifting the LR to look for him shortly.

So did a search for him and he's gone. My new assumption is he jumped and the beagle ate him...not in the sump, or under the stand or any LR.
Did a full water panel today and everything is spot on, I figured if he was still in-tank decaying there would have been a trace of ammonia, and there was not.

The Orp is creeping up slowly as normal. Still lower than what I'm used to seeing though...guess it's time to recalibrate the probe...

Sorry to hear about the fish. My beagles certainly would eat a fish they found on the floor.

An ORP drop is frequently observed after a water change, likely due to the preponderance of reduced metals in the mix, such as ferrous iron. Not sure why yours is low now.

Thanks Randy. I've seen him eat a lot worse, as you have most likely witnessed yourself being a beagle owner. Or being owned by a beagle.

I just ordered some fresh calibration solution. We shall see in a few days...

Calibration was good. It's working perfectly again in the new tank...Oh well...glad it wasn't a bad probe..they are not cheap..

Looking at fusion right now it's at 374. Typical for a very large water change.
