You said 6-6.5, I guess you say that’s high?
I was trying to be funny. Sorry :)

Ocean water is usually around 6,5 dKH, and we've had SPS tanks run around that levels for many years. So I like to stay there. Old habit I guess :)

90% of posted readings here will not align with other testers when ran. variation rules the hobby until we're all digital. when I see a posted reading from a titration kit online, I take that as accurate about 15% of the time going off numerous posts that show total misread conflicts between the top 5 titration kits/brands

PO4 0.05 was last test which is highest I have seen...usually 0.02 but my nitrate hit 0 so it probably stopped being used up. This is fine for po4 though.

NO3 0 - I manually dosed this back up - I was really happy when it stayed at 5 but I increased my lighting and it tanked back down from increased growth I guess.

pH 7.8 at night and 8.2 daytime
Alk 7.4
Ca 440
Mg 1360

Alk 8.7
Cal 400
Mag 1560
No3 40
Po4 .07
Salinity 35.5
Ph 8.05-8.18

No3 is high because I used reef flux to get rid of bryopsis, just added reef lettuce and chaeto to fuge after I did a 50 gal water change 2 weeks ago to get rid of reef flux in system, hopefully my lettuce and chaeto won’t die. I can get my ph above 8.3 easily, but i start to precipitate causing my sand to turn to concrete.

Salinity 35 ppt
PO4 0.05
NO3 0.25
Alk 6.7~7
Ca 400~450
Mg 1370
Ph 7.8~8.2
K+ 390
Sr 7.66
I 0.054
Si 0.09

All except salinity in ppm. I correlate most of these values to monthly icp test.

I only know my Alk, 8.

Just had an accidental millipora frag :(

Since my tank is so small (2.5 G) parameters are a little harder to keep in check. But overall the main issue I have is temperature swings because of the ambient temperature in the summer. Although I have no problems with salinity.

Nitrate-25 ppm
pH-I honestly don’t know right now but my corals are doing fine
Temp can swing between 82-85 degrees throughout the day although I have no issues regarding it with my livestock.

Salinity 1.026
Temp set at 77 but can get to 79 on hot days, rock solid at other times
Alk 8.6-8.8 with dosing
pH 8.15 - 8.20
Calcium 450-460
Magnesium 1320-1380 I don’t dose it
NO3 1.5 - 2.5. I dose manually every few days
PO4 0.01 - 0.03. I dose manually every few days

I haven’t tested Potassium in a long time, I should. I need to formally dose Nitrate and phosphate as I have two clams that suck them up

I’ve seen you post about your 2.5 before. Now I’m curious to see it. Have pics? Someone on here has a pico that’s packed with SPS and it’s one of the most beautiful tanks I’ve ever seen.

For such alk point and above am gonna guess your K+ is high;)

Here’s the most recent pic. Corals were just added today and this is my first time ever keeping coral. I’m aware that Xenia and Kenya Tree can spread fast but I love how they look so I’m fine with it. I keep my nitrates a little high for them as I’ve heard many softies like less than ideal parameters

Is that the general consensus on potassium? Higher alk, potassium follows in suit?
Hmmm. Not alwayes. But it's kind of a hunch. But by all means not scientific fact.
Am just assuming he is using a salt that is also bit high on alk, which means the sand is higher on multiple elements..

You could get some mushrooms in there. Lots of color and easy to care for. I have never killed a mushroom. Ever.
