Moving into a new house within the next year, looking for inspiration for shallow long builds!!!

Something like this? Only 4' long

48"x24"x12". Not really what OP was looking for... but shallow tanks are so much fun.
Still looks good! I love shallow tanks, what are disadvantages to shallow tanks? I love how the light can penetrate the tank easier and you can have interesting rockwork

That was a picture from about two years ago of my old shallow tank, so I made some modifications to it after that. But, the main drawback would probably be light coverage and you can see I only had one A360WE behind my two bulb t5. I ended up getting a 2nd Kessil shortly after - but, having t5's and two Kessils attached to the rim of the tank cut back the amount of the top-down viewing space (my favorite part of lagoon tanks). If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely hang a 6 or 8 bulb t5 fixture from the ceiling to light a tank like that.

Oh, and flow! There can be a lot of dead spots if you don't position your powerheads correctly. Once you get them where they need to be, they blow around a lot of sand since they're so close to the sandbed.
